ABOUT ME

My Journey

I am currently taking a bit of time off to help raise my lovely little boy. He's keeping me quite busy, but I'm managing to find some spare time to do some freelance work, and some personal projects.

I learnt to code during lockdown, though my background is quite different. As a child I wanted to be a tennis player. I competed at many tournaments, becoming one of the best players in the country, and I still play at a semi-professional level. At university I studied classical music, and currently play in a number of renowned orchestras and bands.

I have thoroughly enjoyed learning to code and bring to it the same level of enthusiasm and pursuit of learning that I fostered in my previous aspirations. Now a new journey has begun, and I cannot wait to see where it will take me.

JUNIOR DEVOPS AND SUPPORT ENGINEER

A fast-paced SaaS company providing data-driven tools for retail and field sales teams. Contributed across development, testing, deployment, and monitoring to improve platform stability and user experience.

  • - Developed key features including the Contracts and Rate of Sale modules using C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue.js.
  • - Built and maintained a full end-to-end testing suite in TypeScript with Playwright, ensuring consistent product reliability.
  • - Automated testing and deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
  • - Monitored system health and performance using AWS services — created CloudWatch alarms, dashboards, and logging strategies to provide meaningful operational insights.

I studied classical trombone playing for 4 years, trying to achieve the highest level of excellence. I played in Orchestras, Jazz bands, and even founded the epic 'Danger Goat' band (more info in the hobbies section).

While studying, I joined toastmasters, where I learnt the art of Public Speaking. I went on to co-create infoEve, a small community-based DIY Ted Talks.

FOOTBALL

Last season my team "The Excel Emu's" won the league, while winning twenty eight games in a row.

MEDITATION

Since I was a child I have practiced Sahaja Yoga meditation. It has become an integral part of my life, helping to keep me balanced and to grow.
